Pray the Way into Urbana 03

A Monthly Prayer Bulletin for
InterVarsity’s 20th Student Mission Convention

September 2003

For almost 2000 years now, followers of Jesus have been forming prayer partnerships across cities and continents so that God's grace and blessing can bring hope to the needy and the Good News about His Son to those who don't yet know him.

We invite you to join us in praying for Urbana 03, InterVarsity’s 20th Student Mission Convention. The Urbana team is assembled and preparations are underway for the event which will take place December 27-31, 2003. As we look ahead, we are committing all our plans to God and praying God would use this convention for His glory and His Kingdom.

• Pray for our world—the world that God reigns over—in these days of war, famine and disease. Pray especially for the church in Liberia and Iraq to be given boldness to proclaim Jesus’ gospel in these difficult days.
• Pray for peace and for peacemakers.
• Ask God to purify His church here in North America and around the world- to bring us from our own kingdoms into a renewed life in His Kingdom.
• Praise God for the Urbana Leadership team- for calling this circle of men and women to steward the Convention. Ask God to shape this team according to His plans and intentions. (Ps 33:11).
• Praise God for the work of His Spirit in the Urbana teams- deepening their partnership with each other and their spiritual investment in the Convention.
• Pray for Urbana 03 to be used by God in His calling and setting apart of a new generation of students into missions- a generation that worships Jesus as King over all.
• Ask God to call students of every ethnicity and culture to Urbana and to His mission in the world.
• Pray for InterVarsity staff to be instructed by God’s Spirit as they make presentations about Urbana on campus and at churches this month.
• Praise God for the students who have already registered for Urbana 03.
• Pray for these delegates’ spiritual preparation for the convention.
• Praise God for the InterVarsity staff who make up the Urbana worship and theatre teams.
• Pray especially for the worship team as they meet together this month to practice and prepare. Ask God to give them unity with each other and to draw them deeply to Himself.
• Praise God for his love and calling in the lives of each of the platform presenters.
• Pray for the speakers and their families in these days. Pray for the living words of Scripture to live and take root more deeply in each of these men and women. Bless them to live under the God’s Kingly reign.
• Praise God for the gift of Scripture to us and for the richness of studying Scripture in small groups.
• Pray for the Small Group team, Lindsay Olesberg and Lucy Meade as they recruit small group leaders for the Convention.
• Ask God to reveal His Glory to students and to the world through Urbana 03.
