Senior Associate Director of Urbana - a complicated title that means that I work on the Urbana programming (speakers, music, arts, Bible studies and prayer areas) as well as the evaluation of Urbana's effectiveness.

I'm a third generation missionary, and the fourth generation coming in our family is from four continents - my kids are biracial African Americans, my three sisters have Hispanic, Asian and European American children. My life has been spent in cross-cultural ministry.

When I was a college student, I swore I'd never go to Urbana and get called into missions. (Maybe I was afraid.) But someone persuaded me, and after I returned from mission work in China, I was an exhibitor recruiting students at Urbana 87. In 1990, a friend and mentor helped me hear God's call to join the InterVarsity Missions and Urbana staff team. Now I've been a part of five Urbana teams, and God doesn't seem to be calling me away from this ministry. It's wonderful to see the impact of Urbana on so many people's lives, in such personal and individual ways.

The funniest movie I've seen all year is "Undercover Brother" (not for the faint-hearted).
