Background: I was born in South India to parents from two different language groups. That bi-cultural upbringing equipped me with missionary-like skills and insights needed to live and thrive in other cross-cultural contexts. I loved North India, where I did my higher education.

Although born in a Christian home among a large Christian minority group, it was while in predominantly Hindu North India that I came to the Lord through the ministry of UESI (our IFES sister movement). Later at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi I was a graduate student advisor in the UESI chapter. It was there that I met and married Becky, an IV Link staff worker on loan to the UESI. My life and experiences in North India solidified my passion for evangelism and made clear to me the importance of cross-cultural missions. (Varanasi is still my favorite place on earth. There's nowhere else like this Hindu "Mecca".)

Becky and I have been living in the US for nearly 10 years now, along with our 9 year-old son, Joshua. My hope is that his bi-cultural upbringing will equip him for the life God has planned for him, wherever that may be. Now, working for Urbana, I love using my passion for learning and for missions along with my technical skills and creative abilities to motivate and enable others to learn about God and His mission.

Favorite movie: Les Miserables. My favorite scene is the one where the Priest, knowing the true identity of Jean Valjean, gives him a second chance. This man of God risks property and life for the sake of communicating the gospel of grace to someone who desperately needs to experience it. I can relate to both of those men.

Favorite book: I'm a book-fiend, loving whatever I am reading at the moment. My "favorite book" right now is Jaber Crowe by Wendell Berry, a down-to-earth novel about a guy in the small Kentucky town of Port William. It puts me in touch with Americans during that era.
