The gospels are old stories, and they're good stories. But often it seems like they're told from a distance, from gilt-edged Bibles by guys in robes. What if we could experience those stories up-close, face-to-face, in our own world? The Urbana Theatre Team will be on the platform to help us do that. Prepare to soak the story up, take it in, and let it rearrange your life. Because in the end, the great drama of the Kingdom is the story, and each of us can have a part.

Here's the Urbana 03 Theatre Team. Since it's the theater team, we figured, why not let you see us being theatrical. We promise at Urbana there will be no bows on anyone's head...

Jason Gaboury does student ministry at Hunter College in New York City. He graduated from Springfield College and studied acting and directing at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy of New York City and the LOST Theatre in London, England. Jason is slightly embarrassed to have been in the show “The Magic School Bus—Live.” He’s also acted and directed in more serious and educational/historical theater. A musician and worship leader, Jason knows more songs than anyone can count. Jason’s big passion (beyond Jesus and the deep life) is caffé con leche (don’t get him started) and a good, long, theological walk in the park. Barefoot. He lives in New York City with his wife, Sophia, also a campus minister.

Jessica Golm grew up at the Jersey shore and eventually made her way to Lehigh University and Moravian College in Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a degree and honors in studio art. She is a working portrait artist and painter, percussionist, and all-around artist with practical training in theater. Jessica’s early leadership exploits included a stint as drum major of her high school band. She later led ministry among arts students in college. She has performed with ransomTHEdonKey around the United States and in numerous church and campus settings. Jessica likes crispy – but not crunchy – fish, a good set of pastels, warm weather, cooking the foods of her Puerto Rican and Italian heritages, and hanging out with her musician husband, Brandon.

Jenny Vaughn Hall grew up in San Diego, California, taking dancing lessons and attending performing arts schools through high school. She took her show on the road to UCLA as a theater major where she appeared in plays including The Wedding Band directed by Debbie Allen. Jenny likes musical theater and has done 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Into the Woods, and, as she says, “a lot of Nutcrackers.” She works with arts students in InterVarsity at the University of Southern California, studies at Fuller Seminary, leads worship, and directs and performs RacEthnicitYou on campuses around Southern California. Jenny once worked as Fred Flintstone (in costume – whew!) and enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband Scott. She is known – despite all that ballet training – as a bit of a klutz.

Daniel Jones is a campus staff worker and theater specialist with InterVarsity. He is an actor with credits in stage, film, print, television, and stage plays including Tartuffe and Etta Jenks. He is a cofounder of ransomTHEdonKey, a theater group that performs markproject and beginning, as well as other stuff for college campuses and churches. After earning a degree in theater and spending time in Hawaii on YWAM staff, he studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. With a group of friends, Daniel planted and led worship for a church for people who aren’t from church. Once a ranking gymnast, he can no longer touch his toes, but he can still do a handstand. If he can get the tux on right, Daniel will be married to Jamie this summer.

Alison Siewert started out in this whole theater thing performing tap dances in preschool. She graduated from Occidental College in her hometown of Los Angeles and studied at Fuller Seminary. She works with InterVarsity as a staff trainer and arts specialist. Alison co-wrote and edited Worship Team Handbook (IVP) after leading worship at Urbanas ’93 and ’96. A second book, Drama Team Handbook, will be published by IVP this fall, along with a book of scripts. She directs the Urbana 03 Theater Team and is the cofounder of ransomTHEdonKey, a theater group that performs markproject (on Mark’s Gospel) and beginning (on Genesis 1—3), as well as shorter works, at campuses, churches and events wherever they’re invited. After working in lots of different churches, Alison and some friends planted an arts-integrated church for people who don’t do church. She is married to Dan and has two sons.
