DeAnn Franklin has been with InterVarsity for over ten years, several of these as administrator and assistant to Pete Hammond. DeAnn is married and makes her home in Madison WI.
DeAnn writes and edits materials on the themes of whole life stewardship, and facilitated much of the content which is found in these web pages.
Until his recent retirement, Pete Hammond was a senior staff member and vice president with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA and leader of its Ministry In Daily Life Resource Group, formerly known as Marketplace®. He was a pioneer of evangelism and ethnic ministries within InterVarsity and launched a ministry to students headed for the secular marketplace. His work with Marketplace resulted in numerous products aimed at graduating collegians and "marketplace Christians." These have included ten years of hosting the national "Marketplace Voices" daily radio program, and launching two marketplace newsletters.
Pete was the initiator, team-leader and creative developer of the award-winning Word in Life Study Bible, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers. He has been on the leadership team of the Urbana® Student Missions convention for 30 years. He is widely recognized as a productive evangelist and effective lecturer. Mr. Hammond is active in church renewal and the laity movement, and serves on the board of Christianity Today. He is a Presbyterian Church (USA) elder. Pete earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and philosophy in 1959 from Houghton College, New York. He went on to receive a Master of Divinity degree in 1962 from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton MA. Pete and his wife Shirley live in Madison, WI and have three children and 10 grandchildren.
Harry Heintz is pastor of Brunswick Presbyterian Church in Troy, New York. At Brunswick the term "laity" has been abolished and, in fact, they avoid using any terminology that would evaluate the offices of vocational pastor more than any member of the church. They see this evaluation of clergy as one of the most damaging things churches do that prevent workplace believers from seeing themselves as priests in the marketplace and equal in their spiritual callings. Instead, as pastor, Harry focuses on empowering people to see themselves as the people of God and practice their ministry daily. His multi-faceted approach includes using non-clergy language, preparing sermons with a small team who include examples from everyday life, having non-staff people preach, and concluding Sunday worship with the words, "Everyone here is in ministry. Let's go out and serve the Lord."
Harry and Rachel are the parents of two daughters, Teressa and Lisa, and grandparents of Brennan and Evan. Harry loves sailing, yard work, and reading.
