This is a listing of several individual and small group Bible study guides that focus on marketplace foundations and/or issues of faith on the job. Each is a small booklet format lending itself to inexpensive use by every member in a group. Ask for them at your local bookstore or contact the publisher direct. Entries are in alpha order by author. I have noted those I found particularly helpful.
The Empowering Church- How one congregation supports lay people’s ministries in the world, Davida Foy Crabtree. Alban Institute, 1990. A seven chapter narrative of the work in Colchester Federated Church in Connecticut, led by Davida as their pastor. A leaders’s guide for group use is also available. Very helpful.
Equipping The Saints, Verna Dozier. The Alban Institute, 1981, a narrative of a group led by Verna who was a public school teacher in Washington, DC for years. Divided into portions from their weekly meetings on work and faith. Tied to a Bible text each week.
Renewing God’s People, Susan Gillies and Ingrid Dvimak. American Baptist National Ministries, 1992. Included a two-week personal devotional guide and six topical workplace-based articles that lend themselves to group discussion.
The Promise Keeper At Work, Bob Horner, Ron Ralson, Dave Sun. Focus on the Family Publishing, 1996. A collection of 48 two-page mini Bible studies with a male orientation appropriate to the Promise Keepers movement. Covers daily life of family, work and community.
Career - Take This Job and Love It, Peter Menconi, Richard Peace and Lyman Coleman. Serendipity & NavPress, 1989. Seven topical studies of work and career issues with Bible text and creative questions to discuss as you would expect from Lyman.

Unemployed, Unfulfilled - Down But Not Out, David Williamson, Serendipity & NavPress, 1990. Seven topical studies on unemployment issues with Bible text and creative questions to discuss as you would expect from Serendipity.
Serving God by What We Do, Ben Patterson with Deitrich Gruen. InterVarsity Press, 1994. Six excellent Bible studies focused on one major text each with good discussion questions and group helps. Included the Bible Text for each study. Rooted in a reformed tradition. Very helpful.
Faith Dilemmas for Marketplace Christians, Ben Sprunger, Carol J. Suer and Wally Kroeker. Herald Press, 1997. Thirteen real marketplace business case studies with ‘points to ponder’ and Scriptures to study. Very well written. Originated in the Mennonite tradition. Very helpful.
Satisfying Work: Christian Living From Nine to Five, R. Paul Stevens and Gerry Schoberg. Harold Shaw Publishers, 1989. Thirteen inductive Bible studies with each rooted in one major Bible text with good discussion questions. Leader’s notes included in the back. From the former dean of Regent College, Vancouver.Very helpful.
Serving God on The Job, The Navigators, NavPress, 1997. Nine group discussions based on major concepts of MP ministry or job challenges with group exercises and Scriptures to discuss. Includes group worship ideas too.
